How I Helped Onraa Build SEO from Scratch (And What Small Brands Can Learn)
When Onraa, a new sportswear brand, came to me, they had a beautiful website but zero search visibility. No Google Search Console. No sitemap. No strategy. Just a hope that customers would somehow find them.
Sound familiar? This is the reality for most small brands launching online.
The Problem: Starting from Zero
Onraa had:
- A Shopify store with great products
- No Google Search Console setup
- No sitemap submitted to Google
- Generic meta titles and descriptions
- Zero organic traffic
They were invisible to search engines. And in e-commerce, invisible means broke.
The Solution: SEO Foundation First
Here’s exactly what I did, step by step.
1. Google Search Console Setup
First things first: get Google to actually know you exist.
- Verified domain ownership via DNS
- Submitted XML sitemap (Shopify generates this automatically at
/sitemap.xml) - Requested indexing for key pages
- Set up performance tracking
This alone takes most small brands from invisible to “at least Google knows we’re here.”
2. Meta Optimization
Every page needs to tell Google (and humans) what it’s about.
Before:
Title: Home | Onraa
Description: Welcome to our store
After:
Title: Premium Sportswear for Athletes | Onraa
Description: Shop high-performance athletic wear designed for serious athletes. Free shipping on orders over $50. Based in USA.
The difference? The second one:
- Tells Google what you sell
- Includes keywords people search for
- Gives humans a reason to click
3. Local SEO Foundations
Even online brands benefit from local signals.
- Created Google Business Profile
- Added consistent NAP (Name, Address, Phone) across the site
- Set up local schema markup
- Targeted “[product] + [location]” keywords
4. Content Strategy
SEO without content is like a car without gas. I helped Onraa plan:
- Product descriptions that include keywords naturally
- Blog topics targeting questions their customers ask
- FAQ pages that capture long-tail searches
The Results
Within 30 days:
- Doubled visibility: went from ~200 views to about 400 in a single day
- First organic clicks coming in
- Key product pages indexed
- Foundation set for content growth
This isn’t overnight success. It’s planting seeds that grow.
What Small Brands Can Learn
Start with the basics
Don’t worry about advanced SEO tactics. Get Search Console set up. Submit your sitemap. Fix your meta tags. That’s 80% of the battle for new sites.
Consistency beats complexity
A simple, consistent approach works better than sporadic “SEO sprints.” Update one thing per week. That’s 52 improvements per year.
Think like your customer
What would you search for if you were looking for your product? Use those exact words on your site.
Local matters, even for online stores
Google gives preference to businesses with clear location signals. Even if you ship nationwide, let Google know where you’re based.
